Love Can Solve It All

It's a BOY!!!!!

I grew up with Siberian Huskies.  I know and love the breed well - and I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss having a furry companion.  Now that I live in Colorado it always seemed appropriate to get one.  But.... but.... with my life in such chaos I never felt it was a good time to get one.  If I traveled too much or whatever to take care of a dog properly then I simply wouldn't get one.

That has been my position on the matter for years.

Well............. wouldn't you know it. I was riding my mountain bike to Flatirons Gym and passed the huge Safeway parking lot en route. The Humane Society had set up shop there for the day to try to get dogs adopted. Out of the corner of my eye it JUMPED out at me. I slammed on my brakes and made a quick right angle turn into the lot with all the dogs.

There he was - in all his cuteness - staring at me.

This poor dog had been badly abused and neglected (he was found just roaming close to the highway in Centennial) -- but you would NEVER know it with his SWEET disposition. I went over to pet him and we both were in love. He put his head on my lap as I pet him and I noticed the scar on his left cornea.  That beauty is left thanks to a belt beating he received, and the belt apparently hit his eye. Ugg.  (Don't let me EVER meet these people!!!)   He really is the most gentle thing.  Given all he has been through, I can't imagine a spirit so loving not to be jaded by such abuse.  He was not the slightest bit jittery or afraid.  He just wanted love.  (Don't we all?)  My heart just melted --- this poor pup has had such a rough time, he really deserves a loving home.

So.....meet Juneau, the sweetest dog ever! I love adopting a rescue animal, especially one who has been so mistreated. I will love him to pieces!!!

He's beautiful!!!

I adopted a Huksy/Swiss Shepherd cross that had not been treated well, and apart from not letting strangers touch his head, he's the sweetest thing.

And love the sled dog photo too lol.

Rescues are by far the best dogs - both of ours are from agencies that saved their lives when others thought so poorly of them... and he looks so super sweet!

Tom and I like dogs way more than people probably 90% of the time. How can people be so brutal to something that innocent? Ugh... so glad that you are providing him with the love he deserves.I know that you will BOTH be super loved by each other and that is important.

Yay! I love love love huskies.

Both our new cats are rescue, and I swear Gunny was abused (he's 5). He's the SWEETEST thing ever and I can't imagine how anyone could do anything to him. He's very sweet to me and Will, but still very skittish around strangers. I'm hoping that time and exposure to friendly strangers will fix that. And if it doesn't, that's fine too.

Congrats and welcome to Juneau!
