CRAZY!

I am telling you - this place is CRAAAAZY!

Yesterday it was about 67 degrees and today is supposed to get to 70! Wasn't it snowing just a few days ago??

Lara sent me a text saying, "Now THIS is Boulder winters!"

Nuts.

Winter Wonderland

Ok, my friends are only partial liars.....

Yesterday I was wearing shorts for a mid-morning run. Today - snow! I woke up and opened my blinds, and did my usual gaze towards the Flatirons .... I did a double-take as I saw SNOW!!! Totally unexpected.

Boulder really IS crazy with the weather changes, as friends told me. Beautiful and relatively warm one day, and then it'll be 30 and snowing the next. Crazy. I was warned of this - so friends are redeeming themselves, slightly. :)

Today Chris Legh was swimming in the lane next to me (there was only 1 other fool in the pool in addition to us) ... in between sets we were chatting and commenting about not wanting to get out of the warm water to run to the locker rooms. I told him we'd be setting world records for speed. He got out before me and I laughed as he waved goodbye and shrieked as he BOLTED across the deck towards the building. Seeing that required a great collection of courage from me to get out of the pool.
Man, it was COLD. Thank God those showers are really hot!

Winter has arrived.
Here we go....

Lying Friends...

Yesterday, my friends Lara Cooper + Billy Edwards and I went over to JZ's place to decorate her house with "congratulations" banners, streamers, balloons - the works, before she got home that night. We are all so proud of her for her amazing win at Worlds this weekend --- an honor she has worked so hard to achieve.

This morning was funny. I was starting to awaken as I heard my phone beep, indicating a text message. I had no clue who it was, but they were going to WAIT because it was frickin' early and they had no business texting me before 7am! Soon enough I heard another beep. GOOD GRIEF! I buried under the covers, ignoring the rude-ass texting so early. Finally at the 3rd beep I'd had enough.

I threw off the covers and grabbed my phone in a huff. I am dramatic even when I am my own audience. :) I looked at the messages and laughed out loud when I saw they were from JZ. She was still on east coast time, wide awake, and bored. :)
First message: "Are you up?"
Second message: "What are you doing? Want to come over for breakfast?"
Third message: "I've already been to Safeway!" -- that one made me really laugh!

I texted her back, it was barely 7am, and told her I'd be over in 10 min - and to have coffee for me. :) I grabbed the cruiser bike and schlepped on over to her and Mark's place in my pajamas. :) I love having them down the street...

So... not too much happening in Camp Sharpie. I've started taking Italian lessons. It's a language I have always wanted to learn to speak, honoring my mother's side of the family. Other than some choice phrases and swear words, there isn't much Italian I speak. I've discovered this is probably a good thing --- I have a habit of pronouncing everything wrong, suggesting other words which sound similar. I also seem to learn the names of FOOD much easier than anything else. Figures.

I've also discovered my friends are LIARS. :)
So far --- Boulder is COLD and Boulder does not contain predominantly sunny days!

Everyone told me cold here felt much warmer because it was dry. I am here to tell the truth: they are LIARS. All of them. The bastards! :) This morning it was 34 degrees as I pedaled over to JZ's place, shivering, face snotting from the cold. Forget the dry cold crap - NOT true.
And what's this "there are 320 days of sunlight" nonsense?? Many days so far have been overcast and gray. YUCK!!! This is what it looks like on the east coast!!!

Things had better start changing and quickly or all my little Boulderite buddies are going to be in big, big trouble!!!!
